Powering Efficiency: Craxel's Black Forest™ Indexing Solution Combats Rising Computation Costs

Renown tech expert David Linthicum warns of power scarcity impacting cloud computing and AI, advocates for efficient indexing solutions like Craxel's Black Forest

Internationally known enterprise technology thought leader and influencer David Linthicum keeps highlighting the huge problem facing enterprises and government organizations, most recently referencing this Channelnomics article, The Shocking Power Problem Behind Cloud Computing and Artificial Intelligence.

The shock will come to enterprises and government when the cost of computation rises significantly because of the scarcity of power. Everyone is used to declining computation costs over time. Without enough power, computation costs will have to rise. Brute force techniques to deal with growing data sets could become unaffordable.

In big data analytics, "index free" approaches that rely on moving large blocks of data from storage to the processor and scanning lots of excess bytes are going to struggle. Any time you see pricing models such as "$5 per TBs scanned" is a hint at the gross inefficiency of the underlying software. While this inefficiency currently puts lots of revenue in the pockets of the cloud providers, it is not sustainable.

It seems an important part of a solution will be dramatically faster and more efficient indexing technologies (e.g., Craxel’s Black Forest) to avoid all the wasted data movement and processing cycles. Organizations that have efficient performance will have a massive leg up on their competition and in the case of government, their adversaries.
